Welcome to Ga-Lun-La-Ti Observatory! I'm glad you found your way to my strange part of the universe. Click the links above or on the left to see more of the site.

I've been flying RC for almost 30 years.  I started out flying control line originally and then saved for months to buy a single channel pulse radio.   It was a lot of fun but a pain too to get the model rigged to fly right on a single channel.  I saved for months more and finally got a 2 channel Futaba with my Brother in Law Tim.  We flew a 2 meter glider by having me climb up on the roof of our barn and lob the glider off.  I crashed more than I flew but that pretty much hooked me.  I didn't really have money or time to pursue it much while I was in the Air Force and college but right afterwards I started building and flying again.  Below are some pics of a few of the models I have had and mostly still have.  And no, I don't purposefully pose with each model but Laura has learned to get a shot before each maden flight cause you never know if you'll see the models in one piece again :-)

I've got a pile of kits just waiting for the boys to get big enough to build and fly with me.

Me and Niko (Around 1 Year Old) With my Tiger Moth

Ill fated Cap  Beautiful but ill fated Fokker EIII
Pretty but dangerous... A Cap that broke up on a hard landing and an Eindecker that had a tip stall from you
know where.  Both have gone to the big parts box in the cornier of my shop.

F5B  Second F5B
Two of my favorites.  F5Bs that climb vertical out of your hand and hit 100 MPH in level flight.  I have no idea how fast they are going in a vertical dive but an aileron servo jammed on the one in the left pic during a high speed dive from about 200 feet up.  I got
it straightened out just in time to strain it through a barbed wire fence.  I have since rebuilt it and added speed breaks this time so I can slow the thing down on landing.

FW183 E-Jet
FW183 Ducted Fan.  Easy flying Electric-Jet.

Mig 3  Mig 3
Mig-3.  This has a geared MaxNeo and sounds almost like the real thing screaming by.  My knees shake every time I fly it.

Tigermoth  Tigermoth
Tigermoth  My favorite for years.  Flew it one too many times in a field that was way too small for a bird this size and stalled it into a tree trying to turn too tight to final.  I probably could have rebuilt it but the airframe was getting pretty worn out from lots of flying.  I have another Moth to build when I get a chance.

MX400
Nice little Mx400 heli.  It still has the training gear in this pic but I found out I was better off without them.  I got lots of flying off this one.

Helis
Pics of my Picolo, Carona and ECO8.  I flew them all but ended up selling them all too in order to get something nicer.  Right now I'm building up a Gaui Hurricane 550.   I'll post some pics of that soon.

Ornithopter
This is my ornithopter winging its way back to me at the end of a flight.  Very strange to fly.  Throttle varies the speed that the wings flap.  The faster it flaps, the higher it flies.  It has a glide like a dead pigeon (Actually looks like one with its wings folded way back) and will tuck
its head under and go for the ground if you cut the throttle too fast.

Palio Glider
This is a Palio powered glider with about a three meter wingspan.  It has plenty of power on climb and will thermal pretty well in the right conditions.  Like most big sailplanes, it is not very quick to turn so you have to think ahead of it to stay out of trouble.
